Early Childhood Awareness Campaign Assistant Coordinator

OVERVIEW

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce wants every child, family, and every community in our region to be ready to succeed on the first day of kindergarten. That is why we named one of the “Big 5” priorities for our region “Building Kansas City’s Workforce of Tomorrow Through Kindergarten-Readiness.”
 
In 2018, we will be launching a quality early childhood education awareness campaign in partnership with Turn the Page KC, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), Kansas City Public Television (KCPT), Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC), and other community partners. The Civic and Community Initiatives division of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is seeking a self-motivated part-time employee to aid in all aspects of this campaign. The Early Childhood Awareness Campaign Assistant Coordinator will work closely with the Campaign Director on all aspects of the project. This individual will also work independently on aspects of the projects and with our community partners on the collaborative portions of the project. This role will include high visibility interactions with business and community leaders.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone launching their career with an interest in education, civic affairs, or public relations.
 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties will vary but may include the following:
  • Assist in event planning and execution
  • Assist in the planning and organizing of bi-monthly community workshops
  • Event registration
  • Assist with the creation and execution of monthly “Sesame Subscription” boxes
  • Grant writing assistance
  • Material preparation
  • Social Media
  • Other duties as assigned by the Campaign Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or has a four-year degree
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Team oriented
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Organized
  • Able to interact professionally with high-level community leaders

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE:

The position is paid at a rate of $13/hour.
This is a part time role consisting of 20 hours a week and will end July 31, 2018. Hours and daily schedule is flexible.
